Now, that is interesting. Definitely an 1163 now I can see the pics bigger than on an unzoomed iPhone!
They're using the banking, so it's 1969 at the latest. Plus Jo's pictured with the number 4 908, rather than the number 8 917 of 1970 or the number 1 917 of 1971, so again 1969.
So it seems pretty conclusive that Jo's using a pre-production model at Monza, which could explain away the MH bezel. And perhaps Heuer traded him that for a production model later on. Or Smokin' Jo sold it, maybe more likely! Goes to show there was a good relationship there already. At that point, Jack Heuer hadn't even had the discussion with Willy Breitling over the names on the dial, so I guess it must be that prototype configuration on the dial that we see in the press release material.
The lowest Autavia Chronomatic serial I've seen was in the 141100s; I wonder if this dial configuration was in the low 141000s, or even if the prototype cases were numbered at all.
