Either strap option works well. We often see this case on perforated straps and it works well, but the Hirsch Rallye does too in my opinion. I have a Carrera 1153 on the Hirsch and like it.
I'm not sure on the buckle. I don't think they would have used chrome on a high-wear item like a buckle, probably just a regular steel one, although some of the PVD Monacos have had PVDed "sun" buckles.
