The all-metal look of the period-correct Autavia pair (i.e., no black bezel) would look better than the later pair installed on the glove-box cover. Even then, you have to wonder whether this last bit of decorating would improve or detract from the car.

You are correct that putting the 1958-or-later Rally Master pair on the dash of this 1953 car is a questionable move.
