No, Autavia is actually a contraction! An abbreviation of sorts. The story is that when the first Autavia was produced and ready for market they needed a name for it. The Designers thought (fairly correctly) that the watch would be well suited for both Automotive and Aviation uses... To which someone said... "That's our name! Aut-Avia: Autavia!" The name stuck and was adopted.
Probably should mention that on a page somewhere...
