Not "Montreal", but "Bowmanville"

The "Montreal" could not have been named for the Formula One race / track, as the Montreal chronograph was introduced in 1972 and the first Formula One race was held in Montreal in 1978. Montreal had hosted the worlds fair / "Expo" in 1967 and was becoming a very well-known city, so this may have been the reason for naming the chronograph the "Montreal".

In 1972, the Canadian Grand Prix was held at Mosport Park, in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada . . . probably a good thing that Heuer did not name this new chronograph the "Bowmanville"!!
