Advice: Do Not Try to Restore Your Watch (or Fresco)

We have previously discussed the hazards of poor-quality restorations . . . we told the story of a super rare Chronomatic Carrera that was destroyed by an enthusiastic local jeweler, trying to do something special for his customer. Here is a "before" sample and the lovely "after".

Well, here's the sad story of a do-it-yourself restoration of a 19th centurt Spanish fresco, that did not turn out well -- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/art/9491391/Elderly-woman-destroys-19th-century-fresco-with-DIY-restoration.html

Unless you are a professional, do not -- repeat, do not -- even think of trying to restore your watches (or your frescos)!!
