Discussion Topic -- How Many Chronomatics??

OK -- here's the question that I've been pondering since posting the photo of the two Sifferts:

How many "Chronomatics" have we actually seen, in the metal or on the internet??

I can count six of them, as follows:

  • Siffert Autavias - - - I know of three. One in the Heuer archives; one owned by a collector in Hong Kong; and one that was sold on TimeZone around three or four years ago (for $599, on the original bracelet . . . I missed it by 20 minutes!!).

  • Chronomatic Monacos - - - I know of two or three of these. One that I missed on ebay (at around $2000); one owned by a collector in Pennsylvania. Both of these are shown OnTheDash.

  • Chronomatic Autavias (black-dial) - - - I know of one of these, owned by a collector in South America.

All of which raises a few questions:

  • Why did Heuer move away from the Chronomatic name (while Breitling and Hamilton stuck with it)??

  • Over what period of time were they sold??

  • What were the production numbers / quantities on the various Chronomatics??

So few Chronomatics, so many questions . . . ? ? ?
