Mixed feelings Jeff..
Brain says prices in 60s & 70s rarer pieces may rise, heart says it's an anomaly.
We asked the same question at the big Bonhams auction, and similar pieces can be had now for half the Bonhams hammer prices.
Levels of interest in cherry picked pieces will remain strong.. I put this down to serious and wealthy collectors who wish to add one or two Heuers to an already impressive collection, so are prepared to pay more.
Most of us on here have the Heuer bug, so want 3, 4, 10, 20 Heuers.. Spanning the ranges and decades.
Would we sell up all for one early Autavia? I reckon most wouldn't.
Also, we generally love the models we love.. Regardless of value.
It's a very interesting subject, and goes beyond simple values. As a prime example, I'm currently wearing a battered, faded old 11630.. All the orange has faded away, the hands a dusty brown - but it has more character and warmth than a mint example..
Anyway, sorry to ramble on!
