I've already responded (lower down), but Shaun has hit the nail on the head IMHO.
Also, just to add.. Massively higher prices for these selected pieces can also be 'bad' for the seller.. Imagine the humble collector who has one of these, and loves it, has had it for years.. It would be a tough man that wouldn't sell up if they could do with 20 grand to pay for their child's college fund or mortgage. Or a son that inherited his Dads old watch.. You get my drift.
