I understand "lifestyle" retailers and content . . . and I understand the function of (and admire) trusted curators and dealers . . . and I understand how anyone can try to sell a watch (or anything else) for whatever price they may choose . . . but I still question how anyone develops a clientele or builds trust by offering this butchered watch for $8,150.
When the "lifestyle" purchaser / client / prospect says, "Can you tell me about this watch?", what does the seller say? Perhaps listings like this are one of the things that keeps people away from vintage watches?

: We watched this one a few months ago when it was listed for sale
: by Crown & Caliber, first at $7,000 and then at $6,000. Here
: is our discussion .
: Now, we see this same watch listed by something called "Man of
: the World", at $8,150 -- Man of the World listing .
: I was contacted by the owner last summer, before it moved into the
: dealer channel, and estimated the value at $3,000.
: I am guessing that if this one gets one more pass to another
: dealer, we may see the listing price break the $10,000 mark.
