George:
Thanks for the interesting question. I will plan to do a full comparison of these two models, but here is a quick summary of the differences between 1163MH and 1163V (Viceroy). Most of the differences are clear in this photo of the 1163MH.
- MH has minutes / hours on the bezel (Viceroy has Tachy bezel)
- applied markers on MH are "ridged" (Viceroy has smooth markers, with white inserts)
- hands on MH are polished steel (Viceroy has brushed steel, with red inserts and tips)
- hour recorder on MH is marked 3-6-9-12 (Viceory has all 12 numbers)
- MH was sold with beads of rice bracelet (Viceory came on a strap)
The biggest difference was the price -- $200 for the MH, sold in stores and the usual Heuer channels; $88 for the Viceroy, under the cigarette promotion). The promotion was very successful, with Heuer struggling to meet the demand for these $88 chronographs (and Heuer retailers struggling to explain why the MH sold at a $112 premium).
I will plan to do comparison photos and a comparison table, but these are the basic points distinguishing the two watches.
