I do think this is a great looking model...although not such a great looking example. I would not be surprised to see the prices of this model explode.

Having said that no individual auction on eBay surprises me very much because I don't believe it necessarily, by itself, represents "the market." In fact, by itself, I don't necessarily believe it at all. I looked at this auction and the bidders and nothing jumps out at me as being funny but who knows. It could be a couple of people who really wanted the watch in the moment or it could be something "funny." Anyway I think it was way too much for this watch and I don't think it means too much...unless everyone else does "believe" it.
