My take

Values on Sifferts or any desired vintage watch are all about which execution and overall condition. The Pawn stars watch was on bracelet and was a much rarer ridged marker mk 2 with clean dial from memory. Sifferts need very clean dials to be good sellers, just like a Daytona needs a clean dial and original lume all intact to be a great seller. Mosts of these powder coated white dials have some dirt and marks on them and these struggle. Big difference in values for watches that are not just "right". Sifferts with later markers/hands are not as valuable as 2nd execution Sifferts but are still highly desirable if with all orignal lume and clean dials...so few are.

As prices have moved higher most collectors have got much fussier (quite rightly) and this will only get more amplified in my opinion.

Re the 2446C GMT I think that was a reasonably strong price for this particular watch, (although not massively so) not sure we can draw many conclusions from one watch though, it could just as easily be a buyer who paid a bit more than market for it as an indication of 2446C rising per se.

: Bernard,

: This is an interesting analogy, and I think appropriate. I am
: wondering if the 1163 Siffert market has perhaps plateaued or is
: reaching one (at least for now). Looking at various web-sites,
: there are several options out there if someone wanted one. I
: counted 5 between two sites this am. These range in price from
: $9800 - $12,000 (on average). There was a time, no too long ago
: when you couldn’t find one. If I recall, one even went as high
: as $14K (it had the “Pawn Stars” pronounce I believe).
: Clearly, seller, generation and condition all play a large part
: in the price, but those who can afford, do not appear to be
: jumping on what is available. Perhaps this is just my perception
: (and I may be incorrect of course), but thought it interesting
: to put out there and see what the more experienced members of
: the community feel about this.

: Best - Jeff
