: Of course, Red Bull is a young F1-team, compared to others. And I
: can understand, that TAGHeuer don't want to see the TAGHeuer
: logo in the cellar of F1. But destroying bridges to history? I
: don't know. McLaren always survived, even after the accident of
: Bruce McLaren (I admit I'm old, 59 years). Probably times have
: changed.

Well I must be ancient (60 ;-) ) and I've supported Mclaren since the late 1960s, including being a supporters' club member for about 15 years. This is a sad development in some ways, but for me the heritage is already broken and I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
It's an interesting time to move between the two most underperforming teams in F1, and whereas McLaren-Honda have only been struggling with their power train for one season, RBR Renault have been poor for the past two and latterly have been at each other's throats. My take is that McLaren have kept their integrity so far as a brand, while Red Bull are over caffeinated and brash and have publicly rubbished their commercial partner.
So, yes, that move fits my current impression of TAG Heuer, I'm sorry to say.
It's instructive to compare Casio's RBR F1 watches (their watch partner who is being replaced) with the current TAG McLaren MP4-12C watch. Both are in my humble opinion over-complicated, clichéd and ugly, and the latter is to my eyes just a 10-times more expensive version of the former.
So, I shall be interested to see if McLaren partner with a more interesting brand, and I shall carry on enjoying my classic Heuers.
