Thanks for your reply, Heinz!
If you're familiar with this particular obscure Heuer (made over the course of the transition and found both as "Heuer" and "TAG" branded), you'll know that while it features a 24-hour adjustable bezel and fixed 24-hour rehaut, the GMT hand, adjustable at 10 o'clock, independently, runs as a 12-hour hand, synced with the hour hand. The pusher allows for only one-hour jumps along a 12-hour scale. That is why I'm confused.
: ANSWER : To answer your somewhat obscure question, I must assume
: you talk about a watch that has a 24 Hour hand. This 24 hour
: hand works together with the 24 hour bezel. This hour hand does
: NOT jump but runs continuously just like the 12 hour hand. The
: 24 hour hands completes one revolution around the dial in 24
: hours while the 12 hour hand circles the dial twice. The 24 hour
: systems stems from that the world has 24 time zones. To keep
: track of local times, the bezels can be moved to show local time
: (second time zone) without disrupting the time setting and
: accuracy of the movement.
: The GLYCINE Company started this 24 watch with the Glycine AIRMAN
: after WW 2 and is still producing this model today. (P.S. the
: Airman has a 24 Hour Dial). Several watch manufacturers over the
: years have also produced watches with additional 24 Hr. hands to
: keep track of various time zones. The HEUER Autavia GMT
: generated in the 1960's then also incorporated the 12 HR elapsed
: timing with a Chronograph and later with the date. I have used
: this Watch for over 30 years in the cockpit as a tool to time
: various events and to keep local time.
: There are also Rolex, Breitling, Sinn, Olech & Wayjs, to
: mention a few that have these same features in various
: combinations.
: If you are unfamiliar with the use of BEZELS, Please look up
: articles published in the past on this "On The Dash"
: website.
: I hope to have shed some light on to your question. All feedback is
: appreciated. Thanks. Heinz Rengel.
