Many thanks indeed - really insightful.
There was no malice in the "parts bin" comment other than the sheer myriad of 11630 combinations I have seen, some with KAF markings, some without, including two of my 11630's separated by only 9 serial numbers (3767xx).
One has a glossy Arabic dial, the other a Viceroy dial. Both Have Viceroy hand sets (and incidentally both have what look like correct original MH bezels). The slightly earlier s/n example I have looks great with white pencil hands and white chrono on a Viceroy dial - the same combination as Arno Haslinger's IDF 1163 sold in the Bonhams auction in 2010.
To your knowledge is there any intel from the KAF itself or the Heuer archive that might suggest if the combinations represented rank, what size batches were delivered etc?
Regardless, the mil Autavias are really nice pieces IMHO and if I can contribute to your research in any way, let me know
