If you're a Heuer fan, the recent Christie's auction was paradise. Either because you got to see and play with the watches in the preview, or because you finally had the opportunity to bid on that Heuer you were looking for such a long time! The Christie's team did a phenomenal job in putting together so many "grails", and their work was reflected in results. A total of 33 Heuer watches were auctioned, 26 were sold for a total of $802,750, or an average price per lot sold of $30,861. Not too shabby for vintage Heuer, right?

You can say that this is partly skewed by the Indy Autavia, but if you look at all the watches sold, none of them sold below the estimate, not one...Undoubtely, the outperformance, came from the top 5 Heuer lots that are pictured here as 4 of them sold over the high estimate. The star of course is the Indy Daytona that sold for a whopping $199,500. This is a really strong result. It was the 7th most expensive watch in the auction. Above it, there was nothing but legendary watches like a Patek 2499, a Paul Newman 6239 Tiffany dial, the Jackie Kennedy's Cartier, and a $1MM Richard Mille. Again, not too shabby for a vintage Heuer to be fighting in the category!

Now the naysayers will come and say this is a "bubble", and the hard-core collectors will say this only the beginning. Who is right? Time will tell...As always, thoughts/comments are always welcomed here.
