I think the crystal being in poor shape has a lot to do with how the dial looks. I mean just look at how bad the chapter ring looks when viewed through that crystal. I'm sure it's perfect under there like most original owner watches that weren't subjected to water damage.
I have nothing to doubt on this one except for the purchase date 😂. I could see how it could be hard to remember. Hell, I can't even remember what I had for dinner last night. In all seriousness though, the case, markings, hands, etc. all appear to be above board.
If you ever want the gaskets and crystal relaxed let me know. I stock all the parts for it.
