I don't have the level of expertise as other participants here, but another point you bring up is a good one. Namely, that this is a workhorse watch, not one that sits in the case most of the time. I have a 1550 that started losing the lume in the hands, and since it's a watch I wear a lot (and don't really plan on selling) I decided to get them redone. It just makes me happier to look at them every day.
That said, I did my research and found a guy who I trusted to do a really good job. I don't regret it at all.
