Why are watch forums so civil?

I’m a member of a few watch forums and on the whole find them to be very civil places. Of course there are differences of opinion (cue the Anti-date and “Any watch over 39mm is a wrist clock” Brigades) but you never seem to get the trolling, name calling and general unpleasantness that pervades the Internet in general.

Are watch enthusiasts just nicer people or is there an element of the “Train Spotter” about us?
