: I am fortunate enough to have a week off work & thought i would
: use the free time to spoil myself with selecting a different
: watch from my collection each day.
: I’ve no plans to make a daily review but this watch ( the oldest
: in my collection ) has really brought a smile to my face the
: last 24 hours so i thought i’d share with you all.
:
: This Model.358 is from 1938 and must have been considered a large
: watch at that time as its 40mm wide. The case is chrome plated
: and the caseback is hinged allowowing easy access to that
: beautiful Valjoux.22 movement. As you can see its a mono-pusher
: chronograph so the single olive pusher has to start/stop/reset
: the chrono, it functions perfectly. The entire crystal with
: inner bezel triangle rotates on top of the case. Its an
: amazingly simple design and functions perfectly although i would
: never consider this a waterproof watch.
: Originally it came to me on its period GF bamboo bracelet but i
: prefer wearing it on a leather strap. With fixed bars in place
: it limits the choice of straps considerably but this 20-14mm
: narrow buckle end strap is period styled and suits it well.
:

:
:
: Its quite deceptive on the wrist as you expect a 40mm watch to wear
: big but the lack of traditional lugs makes this one feel more
: middle sized than large. I do, however, find myself being very
: aware of my environment as the fixed lugs dont scream robust
: & as i mentioned earlier waterproof is not a feature of this
: early chronograph.
: I hope you guys have enjoyed my review. - Darren
