Re: Weak Performance for the Heuers Today, at WOK

Can it be that we are at the price peak of our beauties at these days?

Some days ago I thought I NEED a Monaco. I had the opportunity to buy one where some paint on a hand was lost for 13,000 Euro. I refused. A model that looks original for 13,000 to 15,000 Euro. I refused. One with refurbished dial for 10.000 Euro. No interest at all. So I decided I will survive without owning a Monaco.

Not to mention prices for models from the 60ties.

Heuer did a great job over last 2 decades with heritage or replica models. This also boosted the value of our vintage timepieces. End of last year I bought the Autavia 85th anniversary model. But in between It feels for me there is nearly every week an announcement of a new limited/special model. This is an inflation I do not like and I question if that really works out.

Why should prices rise or at least be on a constant level? The number of watches that survived from the good old days is limited. On the other hand there will be some pieces more found by inheritance. And guys like I who like these watches because I lived in these “good old times” get older and maybe buy less. By the way I see a similar trend for Porsche cars today.

But anyhow: I enjoy my hobby and like the watches I have!

Sorry for my long post but I think all aspects belong together.

Greetings from a cold weekend in Germany,

Dirk
