This model was first produced in 1969.
It came in the classic 70s blue dial; only 100 were produced in black; a steel/18k was done also.
Tthis watch model was described as a cross between a Heuer Monaco and a AP Royal Oak. It truly is in person. The detail and wokmanship clearly rival a AP. The band is a jewel to behold and wear; zero friction and inifinitey adjustable via inner spring bars in links!
Yes, the original el primeros were round case/strap, classic round subdials in a variety of colors, including, deep blue, silver, plum. Zenith pursued a sub-brand strategy by rebadging these as Movado too; which less jewelled mvmts.
They then did the Diver/Pilot execution with external bezel. The most 70s esque is the Astronic (Espada-under Movado)which has perpetual month/date and lunar calendar, in a tapered square case with wide steel plate integral-band.
