I am a works/movement guys so I will have to agree with you Jeff...even though with this watch, the money is in the dial. The dial is super scarce...maybe even rare.
Now back to the movement; Note that all of the wheels in this movement are rose gold as are the jewel settings. The jewels are choice rubies. This 161 was not the best Elgin grade of the day. It's big sister, the grade 162 with 21 jewels and a gold caps on the balance and excape was considered better. Both were beautiful and very precision watches but the little sister is sure a looker.
