: the high end of enicar is very thin/rare air indeed. . i do agree
: these watches are comparable and in many cases superior to 60s
: chronos of any manufacturer at multiples of the price (today)
: and the racing heritage is second to none. however, my
: experience is there are a few crazy fanatics and most collectors
: skip over these
: i have seen pristine mk II and mk IIIs go for 8-10k easy. . same
: for mk IV. . there was a great black dial mk III with red
: lollipop hand that went for 15k all in i believe a year or so
: ago at auction. i bought the best all black mk II i've ever seen
: for 11k collector to collector within the past year. that said,
: there are lots of good not great aqua graphs and jet graphs and
: around that don't seem to sell and sherpas in mediocre condition
: seem to sit
: as for the MK1s that GVM is talking about. . .there are so few that
: honestly pricing is anyone's guess. i've never gone there. .
: .and of course the actual watches that Jim Clark gave his f1
: team . . that's like trying to price a Speedmaster that went to
: the moon in my book
: there are great enicar resources here
:
: and here
: https://enicar.wordpress.com/
: and GVM's site
: https://boldwatches.wordpress.com/page/1/
: i have a near perfect Rindt, a near perfect carrera 2447N, and a
: spectacular 3646 1st execution w/ 2nd ex hands. . .and i have to
: say the sherpa graphs hold up to any of these watches
: but its a crazy few us enicar enthusiasts!
: as for this watch. . no idea if they'll get that price. . if bought
: i don't know how on earth one would ever resell it. . . its too
: rich for my blood . . .for me a grail would be the real jim
: clark white version (i believe GVM has 3!)
Lets see how everything develops. Its a bit of a mystery why Enicar is just a brand of a few enthusiasts despite the fact that they have an enormous motorsport history ( before Heuer) and also funded several Expiditions and Divers, like Hans Hass. The only reason I can imagine, is that the brand is not alive any more. Sure the name is still there, but these chinese watches are crap :D
So there is no heritage department, or new watches that are connected to the originals. Thats the pinnacle of every Speedmaster, Heuer Carrera or Rolex GMT: Their History. At some point, a buyer of a new watch is interested in the history. If you dont sell new watches,....there is also none asking for the old ones. At least thats my explanation :D
Btw i'd like to add my page enicar101.com to your list. I started to classify all Sherpa Graph watches, based on their serial number. I have a database of 126 watches so far, any help to extend this list is appreciated!
Best Nico
