Yes, the article was interesting, but I thought that it came up short in providing practical advice for watch collectors.
It seems that ventilation is important, but what does this mean? Is it under the crystal that must be ventilated . . . or the plastic bag that holds the watch, or the wooden box that holds the bags, or the entire safe, or the room that needs to be ventilated? And what does good ventilation really mean? Daily / weekly / monthly / etc.
I can understand that this posting did not want to provide medical / safety advice to watch collectors, but it did leave me with a lot of questions.

: Hi all,
: just read this interesting article on Hodinkee:
:
: So, if you have old watches still using radium dials, take care
: about the Radon gas:
: "...A new study from the good folks at the University of
: Northampton has shown that we all forgot one essential fact:
: radium decays to radioactive radon gas, which is readily inhaled
: and will in sufficient doses significantly increase the risk of
: lung cancer...".
: Hope this helps!
: Best.
