one of my credos as a collector has been that I only collect watches that I will wear. So if I have one that I am not wearing, or that I have to force myself to wear, then I will usually sell it or trade it for something that I will wear.

I'll admit that sometimes I have to force myself to part with the precious ones . . . after doing so, then I am usually proud of myself for imposing the discipline . . . I am happiest when the new one arrives, and I realize that it is making me happier to wear the new one than to look at the old one. Still, there are always a couple that should be sold, but they linger (as there is usually some effort to the selling thing).

There are some folks who collect for the archives; some who collect to resell or as an investment; I collect to wear them, and if they don't meet that objective, then they go . . . usually!!
