I'm about to buy one and yes, they are super expensive..and still going up

I guess people have different reasons- for me, its that the Monaco is the signature/ icon Heuer watch. Autavia and Carrera are great watches but similar to other brands. Big, square, bright blue (or grey)- it does stand out.

Plus, there is the whole Steve McQueen thing...

Few examples? There are a lot around- not many good ones, but a lot easier to find than other Heuers

In short, I don't think that the price of new ones has any bearing on the prices for old ones- its more to do with the iconic rep of the Monaco.
