Hi Jeff, thanks for your swift reply. I agree that most of the OtD gallery items bend towards orange and the few ones I own follow this rule; the 510.501 pictured above does indeed seem to have been red sometime, but on the other hand mine has decidedly orange hands and the overall dial condition is very good.
I forgot to mention this in the first place, but my doubt is especially for the Carreras, 510.511 and 510.523. I have seen pictures of real red or very dark orange hands on NOS items and simple orange (more or less light) on more worn-out ones.
