Auction price trends

If we are looking purely to auctions of late i would say that Monaco values have dipped slightly below the USD 8000 mark. Quite a number of "buy it now" Monaco's in good condition have stood unsold on ebay over the last 4-5 months at around USD 8000. It has infact been my observation that those set to auction seem to attract more interest from bidders, with sales in the USD 7500 zone. Could it be that we buyers tend to get caught up in the competitive moment and reach to a sale we would not have bought into as a pure purchase it now ?

:
: allright, gentlemen . . . we have been discussing the current
: market price for a "never worn" McQueen Monaco, with
: all the goodies (box, papers, etc.). we have discussed how much
: premium might be added for the "goodies" and the NOS
: condition.

: so now let's ask the other question, about the " baseline
: " McQueen Monaco: What is the current market value for a
: really nice McQueen Monaco . . . not mint, but let's say
: somewhere near mint (no scars or blemishes on the dial; no
: polishing on the case; light scratches only; some patina on the
: luminous); no box or papers; on the bracelet; mechanically sound
: with recent service.

: we once saw these approcahing $10,000 . . . what is the current
: Fair Market Value?
