Re: Aviation Scans -- "Actually Flown" Category

This is a Breitling Snowbirds Navitimer, used by the Canadian equivalent to the Blue Angels. Not real sure if this one has flown, though. It is part of a limited edition series and may have been originally bought by a civilian. I love it though, and wanted to post this pic! Look further below for an Autavia that is a seasoned air veteran!

This Autavia has definitely flown numerous times as it was originally owned by pilot Shirley Louise Tanner who wore it when she competed in air races in the 1970's. She and her sister flew together in many local, international and transcontinental competitions. They flew for Baskins-Robbins in bright pink with the 31 painted on the tail. They won the Palms-to-Pines race in 1973! They also came in second in the "Powder Puff Derby" in the mid 70's. Shirley's son Keith provided this info and press release copies after I bought this watch from he and his sister when they settled her estate earlier this year. Keith added that "being a man's watch, she was far too stylish to wear this outside the racing arena", so it remains in remarkably good shape!
