Carrera v's Speedmaster

I am looking to get another watch for more everyday use; gym, gardening, cycling etc as I don't really weant to wear my Monaco's anywhere where they might get damaged or wet. I like the Omega Speedmaster Moon watch but have a few questions. Does it use the same movement as the manual wind Carreras? They seem to have the same sub dial configurations. Does anyone know if the later 80's or 90's Speedmasters use the same movement? They look very similar to the 60's ones but I would be happier having a later watch in case it got knocked, splashed etc. I don't mind a newish watch over a vintage because of what I'll be using it for. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks guys

David Howlett
