Paul is Correct: You Have a Green Machine ! ! !

Paul has already given you the good news -- your watch does not use a battery, but a gentle winding every day (or so) will keep this one running. Indeed, it's a "green machine" . . . having very little environmental impact (other than a small drop of oil every few years, to keep it lubricated); most collectors actually enjoy the winding experience . . . a way of staying close to our watches.

Congratulations on this one, and please stay in contact, to let us know how this is all going!!

Welcome to our community of vintage watch collectors . . . you come aboard with a pretty watch and a great story!!

Jeff

: Hi Evan - the catalogue I referred to is the 1968 version which is
: a good estimate for the date of your watch. I am not sure where
: you got the value from but I think you are a little high. Now
: for the big surprise - your watch has a hand wound mechanical
: movement (no battery). You will need to wind it up using the
: crown which is the central knob on the side of the watch. If it
: is working correctly you should be able to wind it up with a
: gentle turning of the crown. If it does not move then it
: requires the attention of a watchmaker. To change the time you
: pull out the crown and set the time. Once fully wound up the top
: pusher above the crown will start and stop the stop watch and
: the lower pusher will reset the stop watch hand. With regard to
: service let us know where in the world you are and I am sure one
: of the members will suggest a watchmaker near to where you are.
: regards Paul
