Gianni raises an interesting point in the so-called Poor Man's Heuers here.

Quite often, these will share a case with the equivalent Heuer-branded model. These cases are manufactured by the same manufacturer and, as such, will often have the Heuer model reference stamped on them. Presumably the model numbers for the PMH will be contiguous as taken from a single batch but as we don't have a huge amount of information on serials, it's near impossible to tell from the serial alone whether a watch was a Heuer or a "Poor Man's".

Where we know there is a PMH equivalent then, it is well worth paying extra attention to the dial for signs of refinishing - the Heuer-branded watch will command a premium and some watches undergo a brand change, even when the original watch was attractive in its own right.
