Carreras - a nightmare for completists!

Im not a massive fan of the Carreras but congrats Jeff, its always nice to complete a collection, even if just part of one.

I do like the design of the dial very much, its just they are too small for my liking...

I love how many variaions there are, which is one of the reasons although i like Silverstones, its relatively easy to complete a set...and then my mind wonders elsewhere! However for completists, it must be difficult to be a Carrera collector, just imagine all the variations, especially when you add in the really rare ones...such as the Shelby Cobra dial and others!

: We have cataloged over 100 versions of the vintage Carreras, but
: I have always wanted to have the four basic models of the 2447,
: specifically the S, N, SN and NS.

: The 2447S (white-on-white) came fairly early in my collecting
: career, followed by the 2447SN (black registers on white dial)
: and the 2447 NS (white registers on black dial). The one that
: always escaped was the 2447N (black-on-black).

: Well, the pursuit of the 2447N has ended, with the arrival of the
: fantastic sample (shown top left, in the family portrait,
: below). I will add some detailed photos soon, but key features
: are the hex-back, the Ed. Heuer marking on the movement and . .
: . drum roll, please . . . the lowest serial number that I have
: seen on a Carrera. So I am loving this one, and feel as though
: this portion of the collection is now complete.
