Black PVD Monaco, w/o Serial Number. Genuine? Questionable?

Since we are on the subject of the black PVD Monacos, let me ask the question of whether any readers have ever gotten comfortable with the authenticity of one of these that otherwise looks genuine, but has no serial number?

A couple of notes:

  • we all know that the serial numbers on these black PVD guys are particularly difficult to see; so that could explain the missing numbers
  • there is always the possibility that a particular sample was a "prototype", with no serial number (but some of us get tired of hearing about these).
So the question is whether you could ever accept as genuine a sample that otherwise looked "right", but the owner / seller cannot see a serial number between the lugs?
