Anybody know what techniques are used in refinishing a dial? Painted by hand? Sprayed? Type of decal? What is easy to do and what is not easy?

How were the watch dials manufactured in the original workshops in the 1940-70s? I'm not a printing expert but was it like a silkscreened print onto the dial? Stamp?

Anybody got a quick overview or link?

Sorry, bit ignorant on this but somehow feel if I understood the different techniques would be easy to see what is "right"....
