On Early Carreras: Flat White vs. Starburst Finish on Dial

Not to change the subject too much, but it is also interesting to compare the two distinctly different paint finishes on the early 2447S Carreras, the earlier ones with "flat" white paint and the later ones with the white / silverish "starburst" finish. The first time I saw two of these side-by-side, I thought that it was the crystals, or the lighting, but closer inspection shows that they are very different types of paint . . . as on the blue and gray Monacos.

Indeed, we see many instances in which Heuer seems to have been experimenting with the details, or perhaps there was some random variation between the different lots of dials.

: Yeah, yeah, I know I am a bit over zealous with two postings in a
: row. Maybe the red wine helps ( Sicilian wine Tarantella 2008)!

: While reading the Bonham catalogue I noticed a few times dials with
: the Heuer logo in silver instead of white. Arno explains in the
: text that a silver logo indicates that those are early versions
: and therefore more rare. I wasn't aware of this. Who has
: experience? If so, may there be reason to value earlier ones-
: which can be recognized now- higher than later ones ( assuming
: the quality of the different watches is the same). Or not? ( do
: not hope so for Jeff as this may mean new additions to the price
: list..."sorry Jeff", LOL)

: I am also asking because of my 2447NS Carrera with Panda dial. I
: bought it with a dial where the logo is in white. The watch also
: came with the previous dial which was received back from TAG
: Heuer after service. On that dial the logo is silver coloured.

: Ok enough for now, back to the wine... look forward to any input
: from Carrera 60 lovers

: Ron
