I have developed my own dial cleaners after several years of experimentation. For that reason, I keep them a secret. However, no matter what you use, go SLOWWWW! Some things will come off before you even have a chance to get the cleaner off. One thing for sure, of there has been any oil on the dial that has soaked into the paint, don't even touch it - the makings will come off instantly.
See my GMT post - I took about 20 minutes just to clean the sub registers. Craig
