Cannot be "Sure", but Very High Likelihood of Refinishing

It's difficult to be 100% certain about the dial, but the "look" of this dial, combined with the fact that we have never seen another of these, in the metal or in any Heuer catalog, leads me to believe that it is refinished. Cannot really support the "odds", but "high 90s" would be how I describe the likelihood that this one is a refinished dial.

Of course, there is always the rare or one-off "prototype" possibility, but I wouldn't put my money on that possibility.

: Hi Jeff, it's been offered to me as a trade. The buyer bought it a
: while ago.

: My gut feeling was a refinished dial. As you say the sub dials are
: a mix of styles. The hour counter would probably have been 1-12
: in that era rather that 3,6,9,12 and I'm sure the font used on
: that dial is much later.

: Interesting piece, nice Valjoux 72 movement but just no sure about
: the dial.
