Blocking, Distribution and End of Series
In Response To: Re: Great to See This, Rich ()

Looking quickly at Rich's list and my "Cheat Sheet" of serial numbers -- as it is the middle of the work-day -- seems to me that 307xxx, 308xxx and 309xxx may have been "reserved" or "blocked" for the Caliber 12 Silverstones, but in 310 xxx we see a handful of low-numbered Silverstones, and then we cut-over to the Autavias (all of them 11630 GMTs) . . . the Cal 12 Silverstones are 310 136 and 310 160, and then we begin to see the Autavias at 310 244, 310 682, 310, 934 . . . all the way into the 311xxx range.

So maybe we can conclude that there were fewer than 200 of the Silverstones with the 310xxx serial number.

: Site doesn't seem to work in Firefox 4.0.1 Rich, I just get the
: side menu and everything else is black, regardless of what I
: select on the menu. Same for the Monaco site.

: I'm sure Jeff is referring to what appears to be two blocks of
: numbers set aside for specific models before the Silverstones,
: and one very definite one after, as well as the range for
: Silverstones themselves. It does look like that range was
: blocked out for Silverstones - I have no other model's serials
: within it and I don't think Jeff has either. It definitely looks
: like Heuer was blocking out by model at this time, which they
: weren't necessarily doing before and after (at least not to the
: same extent), which also has some implications for dating any
: given watch - just makes it more difficult than ever!

: Let's see what Jeff has to say on the subject when he publishes his
: piece :)
