Did I do the right thing? Relumed Autavia

I sent my Autavia 11630 MH in for a service. 6 months later and it is finally back. I won't go into my disappointment about the chrono second hand not being aligned and the hairs under the crystal. (@49 and 51 mark) We live and learn regarding watch repairers/makers.
The watch maker highly recommended my getting the hands relumed. The lume was cracking and he stated that sooner of later it was going to fall off, and perhaps enter the mechanism.
I also swapped the bezel insert, though have kept the original. A couple of questions.
Was this relume unnecessary? I have no plans on selling, do not look at my watches as an investment, I just like wearing them, especially this one.
My end links rattle. Would a thinker spring bar fix this, and what is the correct thickness of spring bar to use on this watch?

BTW this month marks my first anniversary with OTD.
Thanks everyone, especially Jeff.

The watch was returned with this piece. Can anyone tell me what it is.
