: Hi friends,

: Hope all is well. Yesterday, while sitting in an international
: meeting I noticed from a distance that one of the participants (
: watch collector) wore a watch with a Monaco/ Monza-like watch
: with blue-whitish dial. I hesitated whether it was something
: Heuerish of maybe a seventies Zenith El Primero with square
: case. When I asked him he said from a distance:"no, no
: Zenith, it's a Heuer. I decided to look closer and he handed it
: over. What I saw confused me. Clearly an effort to come to a
: watch with a Monaco look. If it was a try to produce a fake
: Monaco, obviously a very bad one. However, has this been the
: intention? For, if that was the case, why put on "17
: rubis"and "Incabloc"? Also the Heuer logo puzzled
: me. Clearly no intention whatsoever to make this look close to
: the official size logo.

: So experts, what do we think. Maybe an unknown French production
: Heuer with Monaco look? Or a very bad fake with
: birth-shortcomings?

: The man told me- and I have no reason not to believe him as I know
: him well- that he has the watch for about 20 years already and
: bought it then for around a value that would be 100-200 Euro
: today. Early nineties was not really the era where mechanical
: watches were very popular and costly already. So little copying
: then I suppose.

: A riddle to me. Your input is much appreciated. Anyone seen it
: before?

: I informed the owner that I would publish this and he will read
: about it. He also knows that I had my doubts so let's treat the
: issue with respect. The good news is that he paid little for the
: watch, so nothing wasted. Interesting piece though of which he
: secretly hopes that it's worth at least what he paid for it and
: maybe a bit more

: have fun,
: Ron
