Re: Heuer Audi Sport - Exciting stuff Jim.. tell us more

Hi Jim,
Welcome to the ranch. Whether you know it or not, you have just become *very* interesting to the world of Heuer.
I too have an Audi Sport Heuer Lemania, as do a choice few of us collectors - including David, who is/was a big time collector, but even after moving on many of his Heuer, retains his faithful Audi Sport.

Anyway, I don't know if you are aware, but these watches are rare (only a handful known), but also shrouded in mystery. I have been researching them for some considerable time, as I plan to pen a full write up some time. As a result, I could waffle on excitedly with 1000's of words, but I'll try to keep it short...

My research pointed to the fact that this watch was available to buy (as an option) only to people who purchased a You could only get if you purchased a Short wheel base Audi quattro rallye car, around 1980-81 ish the retail then for the car was £45,000. (I believe only 200 were made). However, chatting to David (who I'm sure will be on this thread quicker than a greyhound with mustard on it's ass), he thought that these were issued to Audi drivers. My thoughts on this that it could well be true, issued to the drivers and available with a SWB Audi.

So, Jim, please, please spill the beans on when, where, how, why you got your hands on your Audi Sport Heuer.. as far as I'm aware, you are the first 'original buyer' I've ever known off, so please help us solve a Heuer mystery about all the details - was the watch free, or an option? Which Audi did you buy etc etc etc??!!!!

Cheers
Stewart

: Hi There,

: Have had the watch since 1984 when I purchased an Audi Quattro new
: car from Ingram Motors in Ayr Scotland. Finally got round to
: getting watch serviced in January 2012 which included
: refurbishment and a new glass was fitted. The bracelet is non
: original however the watch comes with a one year guarantee from
: the Heuer trained watchmaker. I am a bit rusty of how to put the
: watch plus photos on the sales site perhaps you could help me
: make the next step.

: Jim Gunn
