Re: Hamilton: a poor man's Carrera
In Response To: Hamilton: a poor man's Carrera ()

: Case serial number at 6 is 73623 ( plus number 172613 at 12), so supposingly around 1968 (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Hi Fred.

You've mixed the numbers around!

73623 is the model reference (736=Vj7736, 2=economy model, 3=steel), so it's using a Heuer case. But the case for an economy watch, rather than a Carrera's.

172613 is the serial number, putting it around 1970/1. Later in the same batch we have Clebar and Heuer-dialled examples.

There are more pictures under http://www.onthedash.com/Guide/_Chronographs/63.Carrera/z.Poor_Man%27s_Carreras/ . Which really should be moved Jeff, none of the watches pictured there are in a Carrera case!
