Thanks for your message. That's a neat story about the two Autavias, and I wish you the best of luck in finding a replacement for your brother. The Autavia Reference 73663 is one of my favorites and, thinking of your message, I wore mine today (shown below).

Best option for service here in the US is TAG-Heuer, in Springfield, New Jersey. Contact information is as follows:

LVMH Watch & Jewelry USA
After-Sales Service Division
966 S. Springfield Avenue,
Springfield, NJ 07081
Phone / Toll-Free (866) 260-0460
Phone (973)-912-5252
Fax (973) 467-5495

It's tough to suggest the best source to try to find one of these Autavias. The usual source is ebay -- with all its hazards, it still has more listings of vintage Heuer chronographs than any dealer site. Over the last few weeks, I have seen two of the Autavia 73663s on ebay, but neither one was your version. You can expect to see prices were in the $800 to $1000 range, depending on condition.

Here's the one that I wore today. It had been a while since I wore it, and the more I looked at it during the day, the more I liked it. Its lines are among the cleanest of any of the Heuers, and it may win the prize for legibility.

Thanks again for your message and the photograph.

Jeff

: Whoops, forgot to add my serial number: looks
: like 202147.

: Hi there,

: I just found your cool website, and thought I'd
: write ( I also just wrote the OntheDash site
: owner). I bought two Autavia 73663s back
: around 1975; one for my brother, and one for
: myself. Using his Master Reference Table, I
: think mine is the first of the three 77663s
: he has listed (I've attached URL for scans).
: My brother lost his years ago, while I have
: been lucky enough to hold onto mine all this
: time. I wear mine almost every day. I have a
: couple of questions for you guys, if you
: don't mind the trouble.

: First, where do you recommend I send my Autavia
: for an overhaul job (basically clean and
: lube--it runs fine)? Back to Heuer? (What
: exact address do you recommend). I've only
: had it cleaned twice that I can remember,
: both back in the '90s; once by a place
: called FatherTime in Chicago, and the other
: time by a place on Madison Ave in New York
: (can't remember the name).

: Second, what are my best bets to find another
: Autavia for my brother, and what do you
: think I need to pay for one in excellent
: condition?

: Many thanks, and again, awesome sites!

: Gavin Hougham
