So that we can continue the discussion, and clarify our language, shown immediately below is what we have referred to as "second version" of the 1158 CHN . . . the light date disc seems to be the key element that distinguishes this one from the first version of the 1158 CHN. We have seen the second execution of the 1158 CHN with a 391xxx Serial Number.

Now, we have Apo show us a 1158 CHN with thinner markers -- no big black marker at 12 o'clock -- and 394xxx Serial Number. Printing on the minute recorder is also very different, with the full 5-10-15-20-25-30, rather than the 10-20-30.

Shown below is a 110.255 from the Haslinger collection (Lot 86); this Carrera has a gold-plated case; note that the dial on the 110.255 seems to be identical to Apo's, but the hands are different. The 110.255 hands have the black edges, but the full length lume. Another distinctive feature of the 110.255 (versus the 1158) is that the word "Carrera" is narrower . . . same as we see on Apo's watch.

So what do we think of this one from Apo? New (and final) execution of the 1158 or could this be a 110.255 dial in a 1158 case? Maybe the original 1158 dial was damaged and replaced? Or maybe Heuer used this 110.255 style dial for the very last of the 1158s? Who can explain what we are seeing?

Who can show us some samples of the 110.255 Carreras? Who can provide serial numbers from the 110.255 Carreras . . . will be interesting to see whether they are in the 399xxx range?
