Far More than 20 Diver 100s
In Response To: A very rare pair - Diver 100's ()

This is a nice looking pair, but to suggest that there are only 20 in existence seems to be just plain wrong. I would guess that we have seen at least three or four dozen of these Diver 100 Autavias over the last decade, which leads me to believe that there were hundreds produced. Perhaps you are referring to the bezel / watch combination . . . but I'm not sure.

With all due respect, I don't think we help the hobby with claims of "one of five known"; "10% of total in existence"; “rarest execution”; etc. They are great timepieces; admired by enthusiasts; but to suggest that we only know of 20 is more a statement about our limited knowledge than it is a meaningful statement about the history of these watches.

I recognize that this is my own pet peeve; of course, all of us can describe the watches as we see fit and make whatever claims we might like to make!!
