Crown diameter? Stainless case corrosion?

I bought a signed crown for the Camaro about 8 years ago after the 1st "restoration" that I think is incorrect - 6.5mm OD. If you know the correct size for this reference, please let me know.
One other thing. This case has a lot of pitting corrosion, especially where the back gasket is installed. Even though its a stainless steel case, I have seen this on several other Heuer stainless cases with screw on backs. Has anyone else seen this. The problem is not unique to older Heuer cases but more common than I would expect suggesting a lower quality (ie: lower levels of nickel and chrome) of stainless used in some models.
