One more reaction...
Another tweak to this study which would be more difficult but which would make the data a lot more meaningful would be to use "Average Actual Retail Purchase Price" (AARPP) instead of MSRP. If you think about it, all of these watches can be purchased at a discount but at the lower end, the Concord, Ebel and Longines can be purchased at a significant discount and are indeed sold at discount stores. Let's just say for the sake of discussion that the AARPP of a Rolex or Patek is 5% off of the MSRP but the AARPP of a Concord is 30% off. This takes the "Value Retained" of the Patek Aquanaut more like 80% from 76% (a change of 4%) but boosts the "Value Retained" of the Concord from 19% to closer to 28% (a change of 9%).
Anyway, statistics are interesting.
